Community Guidelines
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Dormeet is built for real college students to meet roommates, make friends, and trade on campus. These guidelines keep it authentic, safe, and respectful. They apply everywhere on Dormeet: your profile, messages, the marketplace, Closet, tickets, subleases, and every campus hub feature. They are part of our Terms of Service.
1. Be real
- Use your real name, your own recent photos, and accurate profile details.
- Don’t impersonate anyone or misrepresent your age, gender, school, or identity.
- One person, one account. No bots, no fake or duplicate profiles.
- Only upload photos you have the right to use, and never post photos of other people without their consent.
2. Be respectful
Treat everyone the way you’d want to be treated in your dorm hallway. The following are not allowed:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation of any kind.
- Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected trait.
- Unsolicited sexual advances, or continuing to message someone after they’ve stopped responding or blocked you.
- Sharing or threatening to share someone else’s private information or photos.
3. Keep it clean
- No sexually explicit, pornographic, or nude content.
- No graphic violence, gore, or content that promotes self-harm.
- No content promoting illegal activity, including the sale of drugs, alcohol to minors, weapons, or stolen goods.
- No spam, scams, phishing, or off-topic commercial solicitation.
4. Trade honestly on the marketplace
The marketplace is student to student. Dormeet is not a party to any sale and does not process payments, so honesty matters.
- List only items you actually own and are allowed to sell.
- Describe the item and its condition accurately, with real photos.
- Don’t post prohibited items (weapons, drugs, alcohol to minors, counterfeit or stolen goods, or anything illegal).
- Meet in a public place on campus, inspect items before you pay, and trust your instincts.
- Report listings that look like scams or misrepresent what’s being sold.
5. Closet
Closet is the part of the marketplace where women students at your campus sell, rent, lend, and look for clothing and accessories. Everything in these guidelines applies, plus:
- Only list items you own.
- Describe the size and condition honestly, including any stains, damage, or alterations, and use real photos of the actual item.
- Post photos of the clothing or accessory itself. Do not post revealing photos of yourself or anyone else.
- Never ask for, or post, photos of other students. “Looking for” reference photos should show the item you want, not a person.
- Agree on the condition, price, return date, and any deposit in chat before you hand anything over.
- Return borrowed or rented items as agreed: on the agreed date and in the same condition you received them.
- Dormeet is not a party to Closet sales, rentals, or loans, holds no deposits, and processes no payments, so settle the details with each other in chat.
- Closet is for women students only. Do not misrepresent your gender to get in. It is a violation that leads to removal of your content and your account.
- Report and block work the same way in Closet as everywhere else on Dormeet, on listings, requests, comments, and chats.
6. Tickets
- Only list tickets you actually have, and follow your school’s ticket rules.
- Transfer tickets through your school’s official ticketing app. Pay only after the ticket shows in your own app. Dormeet takes no fee and processes no payment.
- No fake or duplicated tickets and no screenshots of barcodes.
7. Stay safe
Dormeet connects you with other students, but we don’t run background checks and can’t guarantee anyone’s identity or intentions. Look out for yourself.
- Meet new people and complete trades in public, well-lit places on campus.
- Tell a friend where you’re going and consider bringing someone along.
- Never send money, deposits, or gift cards to someone you haven’t met.
- Don’t share sensitive information (Social Security numbers, bank details, passwords) with anyone.
- If someone makes you uncomfortable, block and report them.
Campus feed and anonymous posts
Talk about campus, not about people. No names, no bullying, no threats, nothing sexual about anyone. No contact details or addresses. No photos of other people without their consent: a photo with a face waits for a person on our team before anyone else sees it. A post that seems to name someone waits too. Polls cannot be about a person and cannot involve money, bets or prizes. Heavily downvoted posts fold, and reported posts can be held until we review them. Report any post, comment, poll, photo, GIF or thread title. You can block the author of anonymous content without learning who it is, and undo that in Settings. If a post or comment reads as self harm we do not publish it, we show support resources, and a person on our team may read it. In the US, call or text 988 at any time.
8. Report and block
Every profile, chat, listing, request, post, and comment can be reported, and you can block anyone at any time. Blocking is immediate and hides you from each other. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. We review every report within 24 hours and, where it is confirmed, remove the content and suspend or permanently ban the responsible user. If someone is in immediate danger, always contact local emergency services or campus safety first.
9. What happens if you break the rules
Depending on the severity, we may remove content, issue a warning, restrict features, or suspend or permanently ban an account, at our discretion and without prior notice. Serious violations (threats, exploitation of minors, or illegal activity) may be reported to your university or law enforcement. See our Terms of Service for the full policy.
