Terms of Service
Last updated: November 2, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Dormeet mobile application (“App”). You must accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy before an account is created. By creating an account or using Dormeet, you agree to be bound by these Terms, including our zero tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users in section 4.
1. Eligibility
Dormeet is for college and university students and admitted incoming students. You must be at least 16 years of age. You either verify a college email address (a .edu address) or apply as an incoming student with a personal email, and our team reviews each application. When you sign up, you confirm that you are 16 or older. Access is scoped to your own campus community. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. We remove accounts of users who are under 16.
Dormeet is an independent student app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any college or university.
2. Your Account
- You sign in with a one time code sent to your verified college email address, or your personal email if you applied as an incoming student. Dormeet does not use passwords. Keep access to that email account secure, since anyone with access to it can sign in.
- You must provide accurate and truthful information in your profile. The gender you select during onboarding cannot be changed afterwards. If it was entered incorrectly, contact support@dormeet.com.
- You may not create more than one account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at support@dormeet.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use Dormeet for any unlawful purpose.
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users.
- Post content that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, gender, or college affiliation.
- Use the App for commercial solicitation, spam, or advertising unrelated to campus life.
- Upload photos that you do not have the right to use, or that contain other people without their consent.
- Attempt to access other users’ accounts or private data.
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the App.
- Post fraudulent marketplace, Closet, ticket, or sublease listings, or misrepresent the condition of items for sale, rent, or loan.
- Circumvent or manipulate the matching system or campus scoping.
We reserve the right to remove content and to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of the content you post on Dormeet (such as photos, bio, messages, marketplace, Closet, ticket, and sublease listings, Closet requests, events, campus photos, group posts, course reviews, board posts, and comments). By posting content, you grant Dormeet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not endorse or verify user-generated content and are not liable for any content posted by users.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. There is zero tolerance on Dormeet for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Objectionable content includes, without limitation, harassment, hate speech, discriminatory content, sexually explicit or pornographic material, graphic violence, threats, content that endangers or exploits others, and content that impersonates or targets another person. By using Dormeet you agree that you will not post objectionable content or behave abusively toward other users, and you agree to this policy as a condition of using the App. Users who post objectionable content or behave abusively will have that content removed and will be suspended or permanently removed from Dormeet. Permanently removed users may not create a new account.
Content moderation, reporting, and enforcement. Uploaded photos are automatically screened by content moderation before they are published, and an image that cannot be verified as safe is not published. User submitted text is also screened for objectionable content. Every profile, chat, marketplace listing, Closet listing and request, ticket listing, sublease listing, community post, and comment can be reported from within the App, and you can block or unmatch any user at any time. Blocking takes effect immediately and hides both users from each other. We review every report of objectionable content and abusive users and will act on it within 24 hours of receiving it, by removing the objectionable content and ejecting the user who provided it. To report abuse or objectionable content, use the in-app report and block tools, or contact us at support@dormeet.com.
Anonymous posts. On the campus feed and other anonymous surfaces, your name is hidden from other students, not from Dormeet. Every post stays tied to your account. We remove content and end accounts that break these rules, and we cooperate with law enforcement when the law requires it. You may not name, target or bully a person, threaten anyone, post anyone’s phone number, email, handle or address, post sexual content about a person, post a photo of someone without their consent, or run a poll about a person or one involving money, bets or prizes.
5. Marketplace, Closet, Tickets, and Subleases
- Dormeet provides a platform for students to list and discover physical items, student tickets, and subleases. We are not a party to any transaction, rental, loan, or sublease between users.
- Listing owners are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for fulfilling transactions.
- Buyers and renters are responsible for inspecting items or arrangements before completing a transaction.
- Dormeet does not process payments. All transactions are arranged between users directly.
- We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or availability of items or listings on the platform.
- Student tickets. Students may list, give away, request, and make offers on student event tickets. Sellers set their own price, up to the limit shown in the app. Dormeet does not sell tickets, does not process payment, takes no fee, and is not a party to any ticket sale or transfer. Tickets are transferred through the school’s official ticketing app or process, never through Dormeet. Only post a ticket you are allowed to transfer. Some schools do not allow it for student tickets, and following your school’s ticket rules is your responsibility.
- You are responsible for following your school’s ticket rules and any applicable law, including limits on resale price and on who may receive a student ticket. A school may cancel or revoke tickets resold against its rules, and Dormeet is not responsible for any such action.
- Do not list tickets you do not have, fake or duplicated tickets, or screenshots of barcodes. Pay only after the ticket shows in your own ticketing app. Report any suspected scam with the in-app report tools.
- Subleases. Sublease listings are posted by students. Dormeet does not verify leases, does not act as a landlord or broker, and is not a party to any sublease. You are responsible for getting any approval your lease or landlord requires.
Closet
Closet is a section of the marketplace where verified women students at the same campus can sell, rent, lend, and request clothing and accessories. Students post Closet listings and “Looking for” requests (with up to three reference photos) that other eligible students can comment on.
- Eligibility. Access to Closet is based on the gender you select when you create your profile during onboarding. That selection is locked and cannot be changed after onboarding. Students who are not eligible do not see Closet. Every other part of Dormeet, including the regular marketplace, is open to all students.
- Misrepresentation. Misrepresenting your gender to access Closet is a violation of these Terms and leads to removal of your content and your account.
- Rentals and loans. Rentals and loans are arranged directly between students. Agree on the condition of the item, the return date, the price, and any deposit in chat before you hand an item over.
- No payments or deposits. Dormeet does not process payment, does not hold or collect deposits, takes no fee, and is not a party to any Closet sale, rental, or loan.
- No liability for loss or damage. Dormeet is not responsible for items that are lost, damaged, stolen, not returned, or not as described. Any dispute is between the students involved.
- Closet listings, requests, comments, and chats follow the same rules, moderation, reporting, blocking, and enforcement as the rest of Dormeet. See our Community Guidelines.
6. AI Features
- Dormeet offers an optional AI bio writer that suggests a profile bio based on facts from your profile. It is used only after you agree in the App, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- AI-generated content is provided for convenience and may not always be accurate.
- You are responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before it is added to your profile.
7. Matching and Interactions
Dormeet facilitates connections between college students. We do not conduct background checks on users and cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of any user. You are responsible for your own safety when interacting with other users. We strongly recommend meeting in public places on campus.
8. Privacy
Your use of Dormeet is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information.
GIFs. GIFs in Dormeet come from GIPHY. By using Dormeet you agree that your device connects to GIPHY to find and show them, and that GIPHY receives your IP address, your GIF searches and which GIFs you view or send. We do not send GIPHY your name, email or posts. You can turn GIFs off in Settings.
9. Intellectual Property
The Dormeet name, logo, design, and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by Dormeet and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written permission.
10. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time in the App from the Profile tab, Settings, Delete account. Upon deletion:
- Your account, profile, photos, listings (including Closet listings and requests, ticket listings, and subleases), posts, comments, and matches are deleted immediately, and cached copies of your photos are cleared from our content delivery network. A copy that a device already downloaded can remain on that device.
- The messages in your conversations are deleted for both you and the other person.
- Backup copies and system logs expire within 30 days.
- Reports filed by or about your account are kept as safety records, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
Dormeet is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dormeet and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to damages arising from interactions with other users, marketplace, Closet, ticket, or sublease transactions, rentals, or loans, items that are lost or damaged, or reliance on AI-generated content.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dormeet and its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another user or third party.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App. Continued use of Dormeet after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App and delete your account.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Dormeet shall be resolved in the courts located in Montgomery County, Virginia.
16. Copyright and DMCA Notices
Dormeet respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”). If you believe content on Dormeet infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the profile, listing, post, or message).
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on its behalf.
Send DMCA notices to our designated agent at support@dormeet.com. We may remove or disable access to material claimed to be infringing, and we may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you may send a counter notice to the same address.
